Devs =/= publishers. How fucking hard is it to tell the difference?? But yes, and Epic will also still get their cut from the engine license too. Probably why so many people will pirate it.

Still, can't blame them for that. In the end, their paycheck, various extras they get as rewards,... fully depend on money they make. If we turn this to consumer side, it is like buying popcorn and drink in cinema versus regular store kind of difference. It is just that some people totally don't think about developers, like those are totally not important for your games. As for whole boycott everywhere. It won't work. They will mostly dismiss you as not interested and move on. Boycotts have clearly failed with Metro Exodus, they also failed with Phoenix Point, which promised backers Steam and GOG version, but switched to Epic, in first day only 3% of backers did refund. Total is unlikely to be above 10%. And they likely got enough publicity from it to sell even more than they would before. Generally I would say you probably give them loudest message if you do wait for Steam release and get it there. Since they can't deny big spike of sales when it comes to Steam.
